Proses Lahirnya Psikologi Komunikasi















Psikologi Komunikasi adalah disiplin ilmu yang tidak terlepas dari disiplin ilmu yang lain seperti psikologi,filsafat,sosiologi,dan antropologi.Oleh karenanya psikologi komunikasi yang dimaksud ini adalah ilmu yang berusaha menguraikan,meramalkan,dan mengendalikan peristiwa mental dan behavioral dalam komunikasi.Menurut jalaluddin Rakhmat pendekatan psikologi social adalah juga pendekatan psikologi komunikasi,konsep ini menunjukkan bahwa psikologi komunikasi sangat berperan dalam perubahan perilaku manusia,terutama saat manusia berkomunikasi dengan manusia lain baik yang sifatnya interpersonal,kelompok,maupun massa.Makadapat dilihat bahwa peran ilmu psikologi komunikasi dalam perkembangan masyarakat dan pengetahuan cukup besar.

  • Sejarah Psikologi Komunikasi
Dance (1967) mengartikan komunikasi sebagai usaha “menimbulkan respons melalui lambang lambang verbal” ketika lambang lambang verbal tersebut bertindak sebagai stimulus jika dilihat dari psikologi behaviorisme.Dalam psikologi,komunikasi mempunyai makna yang luas,meliputi segala penyampaian energy,gelombang suara,tanda diantara tempat,sistem atau organisme.Kata komunikasi sendiri dipergunakan sebagai proses,pesan,pengaruh,atau secara khusus sebagai pesan penyampaian energy dan alat alat indra ke otak pada peristiwa penerimaan dan pengolahan informasi,pada proses saling memengaruhi di antara berbagai sistem dan cirri organisme dan di antara organisme.
Dilihat dari sejarah perkembangannya,komunikasi memang dibesarkan oleh para peneliti psikologi.Tiga diantara empat bapak Ilmu Komunikasi yang disebut Wilbur Schramm (1980:73-82) adalah sarjana-sarjana psikologi.Kurt Lewin adalah ahli psikologi dinamika kelompok; ia memperoleh gelar doktornya dalam asuhan Koffka,Kohler,dan Wertheimer,tokoh-tokoh psikologi Gestalt.Paul Lazarsfield,pendiri ilmu komunikasi lainnya merupakan psikolog yang banyak dipengaruhi Sigmund Freud.Selanjutnya,Bapak Psikoanalisis,Carl. I. Hovland,yang definisi komunikasi nya banyak dihafal mahasiswa komunikasi di Indonesia,adalah seorang yang di didik dalam psikologi,dan selama hidupnya memilih karir psikologi.ia pernah menjadi asisten Carl Hull,tokoh psikologi aliran behaviorisme.Menarik sekali bahwa semua aliran besar dalam psikologi diwakili oleh para peletak dasar ilmu komunikasi.
Komunikasi bukanlah subdisiplin dari psikologi.Sebagai ilmu,komunikasi menembus banyak disiplin ilmu.Sebagai gejala perilaku,komunikasi dipelajari oleh bermacam-macam disiplin ilmu,antara lain sosiologi dan psikologi.
Edwin Neuman (1948) mendefinisikan komunikasi sebagai “proses untuk mengubah kelompok manusia menjadi kelompok yang berfungsi”.Aliran sosiologi yang banyak mewarnai studi komunikasi ialah aliran interaksi simbolik (Blumer,1969). 

  • Perbedaan Pandangan Antara Sosiologi Dan Filsafat Terhadap Ilmu Komunikasi
Sosiologi melihat komunikasi sebagai integrator sosial,sementara filsafat melihat posisi komunikasi dalam hubungan timbal balik antara manusia dengan alam semesta.Kaum fenomenolog, misalnya,melihat pesan sebagai objek kesadaran yang dinamis.Pesan ditelaah dengan menghubungkannya pada kondisi-kondisi empiris yang menjadi konteks pesan tersebut (Laningan,1979).
Psikologi juga meneliti kesadaran dan pengalaman manusia.Psikologi terutama mengarahkan perhatiannya pada perilaku manusia.Sosiologi melihat komunikasi pada interaksi social,filsafat pada hubungan manusia dengan realitas lainnya,dan psikologi melihat pada perilaku individu komunikan.

Fisher meneyebut 3 ciri pendekatan psikologi pada komunikasi : penerimaan stimulus secara indrawi,prediksi respons,dan peneguhan respons.Psikologi melihat komunikasi dimullai dengan dikenalnya masukan pada organ-organ penginderaan kita yang berupa data.Stimulus berbentuk rang,pesan suara,warna seperti segala sesuatu yang mempengaruhi kita.Salah satu unsure sejarah respons ialah peneguhan.Peneguhan adalah respons lingkungan.Berger dan Lambert menyebutnya feedback ( umpan balik) tapi Fisher tetap menyebutnya peneguhan saja.Walaupun tampak kental sekali warna behaviorisme pada uraian Fisher.

Dari keseluruhan penjelasan diatas dapat kita simpulkan bahwa proses lahirnya psikologi komunikasi tidak lepas dari satuan kata yang membentuk kata psikologi komunikasi,yaitu psikologi dan komunikasi dan juga beberapa disiplin ilmu lain seperti filsafat,sosiologi dan antropologi.Psikologi dan komunikasi tidak terlepas hubungannya dimana dalam psikologi,stimulus mempunyai makna yang luas meliputi segala penyampaian energi,gelombang suara,tanda di antara tempat dan sistem atau organisme sementara komunikasi dipergunakan sebagai proses,pesan,pengaruh,atau secara khusus sebagai pesan penyampaian energi dari alat-alat indra ke otak,pada proses saling pengaruh diantara berbagai sistem yang disebut organisme.

 Eleven years after Billy MadisonClick finds Adam Sandler still being tormented by freckled redheads named O'Doyle, the inescapable impression that the star must have been mercilessly picked on by like-named bullies as a kid (against whom he's now exacting repeated cinematic revenge) consistent with his pathological fixation on his formative adolescent '80s heyday. From the appearance of David Hasselhoff as the fatuous, demanding boss of Sandler's workaholic architect and neglectful family man Michael Newman, to the predictably kitschy soundtrack cuts from The Cars and Loverboy, to the flashback to Michael wearing a Judas Priest concert t-shirt, the SNL alum's latest lowbrow vehicle drenches itself in Reagan-era trappings even as its story speeds from the present to the distant future, as if that decade—already mined to the hilt by the nostalgic The Wedding Singer—were the only time period relatable to Sandler (and, by extension, his multitude of similarly aged fans).
Such a narrow, stunted worldview is partially at odds with director Frank Coraci's two-trick pony, which attempts to mellow the comedian's infantile humor via supposedly grown-up solemnity, its narrative—about the initial pleasures, and then unforeseen pains, bestowed upon Michael by a magical remote control that controls every aspect of his life—a combination of lowbrow Waterboy gags in the early going and A Christmas Carol moralizing melodrama in its near-unendurable latter half. The extent to which Click develops Sandler's persona, however, can be equated with the inclusion of early '90s flourishes into its miasma of '80s references, the Cranberries's "Linger" (replete with a cameo by Dolores O'Riordan) and U2's Achtung Baby gem "Ultraviolent (Light My Way)" indicative of the miniscule baby steps taken by Coraci and screenwriters Steve Koren and Mark O'Keefe to thrust the comedian's trademark buffoonery (here characterized by a recurring dog-humping bit and a Fat Bastard-style special effects gag) into more "mature" territory.
Before it devolves into a misbegotten version of It's a Wonderful Life by way ofBicentennial Man, the film indulges in plenty of puerile remote-related bits—use of the slow-motion feature for gawking at a jogger's bouncing boobs, the pause button for farting in Hasselhoff's face, the fast-forward function for skipping arguments with hottie wife Donna (Kate Beckinsale)—sure to satiate die-hards, its central conceit mined only for the most mundane scenarios possible. As Morty, the kooky mad scientist who sells Michael the remote in the "Beyond" section of Bed Bath & Beyond, Christopher Walken rises above the proceedings' banality by intentionally operating on a different, thoroughly bizarre plane than his costars, whimsically breaking into impromptu song or dance at a moment's notice and without care to the particulars of the action at hand. As with every other scant trace of inventiveness, though, even Walken's out-there antics are eventually subsumed by Click's third-act earnestness, its artery-clogging schmaltz proving squishier (and significantly less tasty) than Michael's beloved Twinkies.

I am Number 4

Hello world,tonight i will review a movie " I am Number 4".



"“John Smith” (Pettyfer) is a refugee alien whose planet was destroyed by a race of evil aliens known as the Mogadorians.  Accompanied by his stern, paternal guardian Henri (Timothy Olyphant), John is “Number Four” of nine aliens who escaped his homeworld but is now being tracked on Earth by the Mogadorians.  This information isn’t shown to us or relayed in an inventive fashion, but rather through John’s bored-sounding monologue as he rides in a car with Henri on their way to a new fake life.  This detached, unimaginative description sets the tone for the tiresome movie the audience will be enduring for the next 110 minutes.I Am Number Four is devoid of almost any humor, but it does get in an unintentionally hilarious moment when John, feeling cooped up and wanting to go to school, is told by Henri to “keep a low profile.”  So what does John do when he gets on campus?  He throws up his hoodie.  It’s a smart move because now no one will notice the GQ model wandering the halls of the local small town high school.
Unfortunately for John, the hoodie can’t stop the emergence of his powers, namely that he has flashlights for hands.  Henri explains that the nine who escaped the planet have superpowers and that John will learn to manage not only his flashlight hands, but also his newfound super-speed, strength, and agility.  John’s reaction to all of this should be, “Wait—I’m not only ridiculously handsome, but I also have superpowers?  It’s like I’m Justin Timberlake!”  Instead, he continues to mope and grimace while striking up a friendship with the school’s resident bullied kid (Callan McAuliffe) and gorgeous artsy chick (Dianna Agron).As John deals with the burden of being hot, having superpowers, and receiving the attentions of a drop-dead beautiful bombshell, he’s also being hunted by the “Mogs” (which just made me think of the adorable creatures from the Final Fantasy series, but my nerdiness is no fault of the film’s) as well as a fellow refugee (Teresa Palmer).  Rather than develop the Mogs into an interesting species, they’re simply The Bad Guys.  They have pointy teeth, gills in their face, big black eyes, and enjoy killing.  Their hobbies include mocking humans and scaring fat children.  Their leader (Kevin Durand) doesn’t even get a name.  He’s simply credited as “Mogadorian Commander”.  As for Palmer’s character, she only exists to participate in the giant set piece at the end of the movie.  She is “Number Six” but “Generic Bad-Ass Chick #6784″ would fit just as well.
The movie is loaded with problems.  The effects look cheap, the pacing is a chore, and the direction is uninspired.  But the biggest problem is that I Am Number Four has no characters.  It’s difficult to fault the actors when they have absolutely nothing to work with.  Characters need to have flaws to make them more relatable.  There needs to be some kind of shading to let us know that while John may be from the planet of the Super-powered Handsomes, he’s not perfect.  Instead, the script chooses to waste time explaining how a girl as beautiful as Agron wouldn’t be insanely popular and getting hit on all the time (the answer: she used to be a cheerleader, but got into photography and her ex-boyfriend spread nasty rumors about her.  Also, she wears ugly hats.)Rather than give us interesting characters in a worthwhile story, I Am Number Four is too busy imagining the glorious franchise its about to open up.  Like the abysmal Vampire’s Apprentice, it’s so busy setting up future stories, it forgets to tell a good one in the movie we’re currently watching.  It’s clear that someone looked at Twilight, assumed that Hot Teenagers + Supernatural = Profit, and that’s how you get I Am Number Four.  If we’re lucky and America doesn’t let me down, there won’t be an I Am Number Four Saga....
